How do I work the bike?

• Turn the control panel on.
• Select the level of assistance you require. We recommend you start on the low setting and build up speed slowly. Level 0 will not use pedal assist.
• Start pedalling and after a couple of seconds the motor will kick in to add to the power from your legs.

How do I stop?
There are both front and rear brakes which will slow the bike down. When either the brakes are pressed or the pedals stop turning the electric motor will automatically stop and allow you to come to a halt.

How fast does it go?
All electric bikes for road use in the UK are limited to 15.5mph or 25kph. If you go any faster the motor will simply cut out, it will not automatically brake or slow you down. You can go faster by pedalling or by going downhill, just make sure you are always fully in control and keep your hands on the brakes.

How far can it go?
Depending on the model, the battery’s range per charge reaches between 30-100 miles. Distance is dependent on many conditions (which you can see below). The battery will last for longer the more effort you put into pedalling and by having a low level of assistance. Maximum travel distance on a fully charged battery is measured at a condition of 20°C, no wind, flat road, total bike weight 75kg, and 25km/h speed. This will vary according to load, road conditions, wind direction, temperature, braking and restarts, tyre pressure and prompt battery charging. To obtain the maximum travel distance, we suggest you check all factors within your control, including overloading, driving style, tyre pressure and timely battery charging.

Does pedalling charge the battery?
No, although pedalling harder will extend the distance the battery will last for.

Do I need a licence / road tax / MOT?
You do not need any of these things for an electric bike. They are treated the same as a normal push bike, which is why they are such an ideal alternative to using a car/motorbike.

Are Westhill Bikes road legal?
Yes, they are. The main criteria for electric bikes are that they are not over 250 watt and that their speed is limited to 15.5mph (25kph). They must also have sensors which cut off the power when the brakes are applied and comply to normal cycling legislations.

How much maintenance will an electric bike need?
The maintenance of an electric bike is very similar to a regular bike including:

• Keeping the tyres at the correct pressure
• Checking brakes regularly for wear and tear
• Keep the chain lightly oiled
• Keep the gears lubricated and ensure they are free of dirt
• It is important to keep the bike running smoothly as anything which slows the bike down (such as deflated tyres or dirt in the gears) will put added pressure on the battery, meaning you will need to charge it more often and won’t go as far on a single charge.

Remember that electric components don’t like water so make sure you don’t use a pressure washer on the bike, don’t submerse the bike in water, and take a little time to dry the bike after a wet ride or wash. Store it in a clean, dry area.

Do I need to insure my bike?
You do not need insurance to ride your bike anywhere. However you may want to make sure it is covered against theft. Check with your home insurance provider to see if it would cover the cost of your bike, you may need separate insurances.

Can I use it as a normal bike?
Yes you can. Just turn the assistance off and it becomes just a normal bike. This is ideal for if you want to commute on a bike but don’t want to arrive at work hot, sweaty and tired. You can glide to work and then build up a good sweat on the way home.

Is it noisy?
The motor on an electric bike is virtually silent so the bike will make about as much noise as a regular bike would.

Delivery

Your Westhill bike will usually be delivered within 2 - 3 days of order. It will be shipped via DPD and have fully traceable tacking.

Returns

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

IMPORTANT: Our registered company address should NOT be used for any returns. The returns address will differ depending on which product you have purchased. To initiate a return, please email us: returns@amptrek.com.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and put it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalised items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on gift cards.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to email us at returns@amptrek.com and arrange for the return of the item you have to the correct address for your particular product. Once you return the item and we notify you that it has been accepted, then make a separate purchase for the new item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Damages
We ask that you thoroughly inspect all items at the point of delivery. We advise you not to accept delivery of any damaged items. If you discover that an item has been damaged, please email us at returns@amptrek.com with clear photos of the damaged items, so we can open an insurance claim on your behalf.

Cancellations & Refunds
Any orders cancelled after 48 hours of placing the order may be subject to additional fees. If your order has been dispatched, you (the buyer) will be responsible for any costs associated with returning the item. Any refunds can only be issued to the same payment method which was used to place the order.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Westhill bikes are covered by a limited 3-year warranty. Aside from general cycle maintenance, any work to the motor should be carried out by Westhill technical team or authorised dealer.

It is a stipulation of the warranty that the customer have their bike serviced by a trained professional within the first 6–12 weeks of ownership, or else the warranty may be invalidated. If a warranty claim is made later on, proof of this service will be required.

Warranty periods

The statutory warranty valid at the time of delivery applies to:

• Frame: 3 years
• Motor: 2 years
• Battery: 2 years
• Controller and Charger: 2 years

Warranty conditions

2.1 Requirements

• There is a defect in materials or workmanship or an error of information.
• The cause of the change in the product is neither natural nor related to its functions, wear and tear or ageing.
• The damage was not caused by use of the bike for other than the intended purpose.

2.2 Warranty exclusions

• Damage caused by improper use or excessive force.
• All parts subject to function-related wear and tear, unless this is the result of a defect in the manufacturing process or material.
• Damage which results from improper or insufficient care and repairs, alterations or the replacement of parts by persons other than trained professionals.
• Accidental damage or other external effects, provided these are not the result of defective products or information.
• Repairs resulting from the use of second-hand parts or damage caused by this use.
• Damage resulting from competitive use.
• Special fittings, accessories or non-standard components, especially technical modifications.
• Observing the required service intervals is also a condition of any warranty claims you may make.
• If any parameter settings are changed in the display, this will void the warranty on the battery, motor, controller, and charger.

2.3 The following are considered wear parts under the statutory warranty:

• Tyres
• Rims in combination with rim brakes
• Spokes
• Brake pads
• Chains and toothed belts
• Chain wheels, sprockets, bottom brackets and jockey wheels
• Sliding bearings / bearings
• Lamps for lighting system
• Handlebar tape / handle grips
• Hydraulic oils and lubricants
• Gear-shift cables and brake cables
• Paint finishes
• Battery depletion over time
